YOUNG CANADIANS MAKE THEIR VOICES HEARD AT THE TORONTO HIGH SCHOOL DRAG QUEEN EVENT

In response to the decision made by York Mills Collegiate Institute in Toronto, Ontario, to stage a drag queen event for its pupils, a group of young people in Canada staged a demonstration in front of the school.

The volunteer organization “Save Canada”, which advocates for stronger families, together with one of its most prominent members, Josh Alexander, organized and led the demonstration. Alexander, a well-known high school student from Ontario who is 16 years old, made news across the world earlier this year when he was arrested and suspended indefinitely from his Catholic school in Renfrew, Ontario, for rejecting gender ideology at the school. Alexander attended the school in Renfrew.

THE PROTEST

The footage of the protest that was caught by True North’s Harrison Faulkner indicates that a sizeable number of kids, parents, and officials from the Toronto Police Service were present at the rally. Alexander, when speaking to True North, indicated that the problem with the event is that “we have kids being indoctrinated in the education system,” and that such indoctrination constitutes a “threat” to people who uphold traditional values. He said this in response to a question about why the event is problematic.

STUDENTS SPEAK OUT

Students from the institution were also present for the demonstration; one adolescent male described the event as “disgusting and pedophilic.” In addition to this, he stated that he does not feel that “it is the business of the government” or the “business of the left-wing media” with regard to how “children choose to identify.”

According to what one further adolescent told True North, he is of the opinion that minors should “never be sexualized.” He added that in order to maintain control of the narrative and quell any dissent among the student body, attendance at the pro-LGBT event was restricted to only a select few pupils. A third young guy offered his opinion, saying, “Kids go to school to learn English, math, and science, to socialize with friends, and to participate in phys-ed, [and] gender identity stuff shouldn’t be taught in schools.”

THE LEGISLATION

Wong-Tam’s legislation, Bill 94, is titled the “Keeping 2SLGBTQI+ Communities Safe Act, 2023,” and it seeks to ban anyone from protesting within 100 meters of drag queen story hours or any other “2SLGBTQI+” designated events. The protest comes on the heels of a radical piece of legislation introduced in the province by far-left New Democratic Party (NDP) of Ontario MPP Kristyn Wong-Tam. Even Twitter’s CEO, Elon Musk, reacted with horror after learning about the proposed law. Critics of the measure have said that it is an attempt to legitimize “institutionalized grooming,” and they have accused it of being such an endeavor.

CONCLUSION

The demonstration highlights the rising anxiety among families and individuals who support traditional values and who are concerned that their children are being brainwashed by gender ideology. It will be fascinating to observe how governments respond to the mounting concerns that have been voiced by parents as they continue to speak up.
